World of Warcraft Guide to Zones by Level
By admin | August 2, 2012
World of Warcraft has a vast amount of lands to explore and conquer. Unfortunately, if you’re not a higher level player, you can’t take them all on right away. Certain zones require that you be a certain level to play through the quests and instances within them. It can be hard to determine where you should and shouldn’t go at your level, though. That is why we have broken it down for you below with our guide to zones by level in WoW.
Each zone is organized into brackets depending on the level required to p lay in the zone. Note that with the upcoming Mists of Pandaria expansion levels go up to 90. This list may or may not be complete. We will keep it updated as new zones and instances are added and with each expansion that comes out. This is meant to help you decide where to go questing with your character.
Levels 1 to 20
Believe it or not you actually have more zones to work with up to level 20 than you do in any other level bracket. This is great especially for new players because WoW is free-to-play up to level 20 and this allows players to really explore the WoW world and get deep into the game without having to level up too much. Note that some of these zones do require the expansions: Cataclysm, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King or Mists of Pandaria. We mark next to the zone which is required in abbreviations: C, TBC, WoTLK or MoP. Zones available for levels 1 to 20 include:
Gilneas City (C)
Kezan (C)
Azuremyst Isle (TBC)
Dun Morogh
Durotar
Elwynn Forest
Eversong Woods (TBC)
Mulgore
Teldrassil
Tirisfal Glades
Wandering Isle (MoP)
Lost Isles (C)
Westfall
Azshara
Bloodmyst Isle (TBC)
Darkshore
Ghostlands (TBC)
Loch Modan
Northern Barrens
Silverpine Forest
Ruins of Gilneas
Redridge Mountains
Some of the listed zones are only accessible with a specific class or are only level appropriate for characters playing as a specific faction (Horde or Alliance). Your personal success in each zone will depend on your build and individual skill.
Levels 20 to 40
Between the levels of 20 and 40 you currently don’t have to have any of the expansions to play in any of the zones for this level bracket. All of the one listed below are combat zones and are not governed by class or faction types. Here are the zones available for players between the levels of 20 and 40:
Ashenvale
Duskwood
Hillsbrad Foothills
Wetlands
Western Plaguelands
Feralas
Dustwallow Marsh
Southern Barrens
Northern Stranglehorn
Stonetalon Mountains
Hinterlands
Desolace
Cape of Stranglethorn
Again, none of the aforementioned areas require the use of any WoW expansion pack or require playing a specific faction or class. If this changes we will update the list to reflect the changes made to keep players updates.
Levels 40 to 60
There are slightly more zones for this level bracket than the previous. They include:
Eastern Plaguelands
Thousand Needles
Badlands
Felwood
Tanaris
Searing Gorge
Burning Steppes
Un’Goro Crater
Winterspring
Swamp of Sorrows
Blasted Lands
Scarlet Cave (WoTLK)
Deadwind Pass
Moonglade
Silithus
That concludes the zones for players up to level 60.
If you need further assistance with WoW zones we will be updating our website with all zones from all expansions for all levels up to 90. To see this you must visit this page of our site http://fycgaming.net/wow-zones-by-level-breakdown/.
